Districting

In advance of the November 2022 election, Copper Mountain Community College District will be transitioning to District based representation for Board of Trustee positions. Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to provide input over the next several months of the process.

The Copper Mountain Community College District Board of Trustees is currently soliciting applications for residents wishing to serve as an appointed member of the Board of Trustees representing Trustee Area 5 for a four-year term, commencing at the annual Board Organizing meeting in December, 2022.

Applicants must reside in Trustee Area 5 of the District and meet all legal requirements to serve, including being of 18 years of age, a citizen of the State of California, a registered voter, and not be disqualified from holding civil office by the Constitution or any state law.

The Board of Trustees adopted a By-Trustee Area election process in December 2021., dividing the District into five Trustee Areas for election purposes. Areas 4 and 5 were to be elected in this November’s general election, but no candidates for Area 5 qualified for the ballot.

Interested residents within Area 5 in the City of Twentynine Palms may forward questions and application form requests to Crisandra Kauffmann, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent/President, at ckauffmann@86131888.com, or call 760-366-3791 extension 5441 for more information.

Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m., October 24, 2022, and may be emailed or hand-delivered to the Copper Mountain College President’s Office. The Board of Trustees will interview applicants, deliberate, and determine whether or not to make an appointment during the public Special Board Meeting tentatively scheduled for November 1, 2022.
